tragedy in salt lake city

for those of you outside of utah, we've had a tragedy here and i just want to express my feelings about it. my heart goes out to those people caught up in the shooting and those in Trolley Square caught innocently while shopping, eating and working there. last night on the news they interviewed a family who were waiting to eat at the spaghetti factory who were split up when it happened. the mom was downstairs with her daughter and the dad was upstairs with his two boys, ages 6 and 10, i think. after they interviewed the parents, they panned to the children and the 10 year old was litterally shaking and sobbing and clutching to his dad. i lost it. the tears came freely and i feel so deeply for these victims, especially the kids. it is so sad to live in a world with such hurt and injustice, but i am forever grateful for the gospel and the atonement.

i nearly came to tears yesterday just watching the little snippet stories on local dallas news. what a completely senseless act.

it's truly been heart-breaking, but also heart warming as all of the stories of heroism come out of the woodwork. thank heavens for the blue shirts that serve and protect.

such a horrible, horrible thing. i cant stop thinking about all of the people involved and how their lives were turned upside down just because they went to work or went out to shop or out to eat... so scary and sad.
