YAY! A new post!
I don't even know where to start with this one. Sit back and enjoy. It'll be a long one! :)
So I totally underestimated how difficult it would be to to juggle a full-time job, master's program, church callings, house work, and time with the hubby. Right now I feel like my nose is barely above water and I'm exhausted from treading water. On the upside, it is so good to be busy and productive and on some sort of a schedule. So let's start the updating with work.
Buckle is fun and kinda crazy. (The third week on the job I had a greasy 50 year old man come in and ask for the shortest pair of shorts we had. I thought they were for a gift...until he told me he wanted to try them on!!! And then he asked me to look at them and tell me if I thought they were too small!!! Of course they're too small, you perv! They're GIRL'S short!!!. YUCK. sicko.) I have some really cute clothes and a little bit of money in my bank account to show for it. I really feel like getting this job was no coincidence as I've had many opportunities for missionary work with a few of the girls I work with. It has also helped me realize how truly blessed I am in life right now. I am so grateful for Jon, for our marriage, and for all he does for me. I am so thankful for the stage we are at in our relationship and for how loving and understanding he is. I seriously am the luckiest girl alive!
School is going well. A little overwhelming now as I'm in the second year. I'll start my internship in November and really look forward to that. I am loving all of the stuff I am learning right now and can't wait to apply it.
I am still the 1st counselor in our YW program and have fun with the girls. Another great opportunity to teach me how truly blessed I am. I have a new appreciation for my parents now and am so grateful for all they did for me.
And man am I looking forward to this summer! We have so much fun stuff planned, I can't wait!!! We'll be heading down south again in a couple of weeks - we'll be in Vegas on the 25th if any of my friends down there would like to join us at a rugby tournament. We'll be in St. George in May for a family get together and also in June with some friends. I'm really trying to talk Jon into moving down there!!! :) In August we get to go on an Alaska cruise with both my family and Jon's family and then in Sept we're heading to Hawaii with our fun friends Jess and Trent. I love traveling! Maybe that's one of the reasons we don't have kids yet. Heavenly Father knows we're not ready to settle down yet.
Speaking of family...we attended an adoption orientation with LDS Family Services last month. We both feel like adoption is definitely right for us, but we both had an overwhelming confirmation that right now just isn't the right time. We have a few things we need to get in order before we'll revisit that idea again. So who knows...maybe the end of this year or maybe not for another 10 years after we have our own kids. I don't know when it will be, but I know we will adopt eventually. The orientation was such a cool experience. It was so spiritual and comforting and answered pretty much every question we had. So I really look forward to the time that we'll be able to adopt, but we've decided it might not be for awhile.
Phew! That's it for now. Happy Birthday to my sweetheart on Saturday! I love you baby!

By the way, my string quartet finally has a blog! (soequartet.blogspot.com) Glad you're well! Next time I need short shorts for my grandpa, I'll come to you. :) -Meili
Good Job Aly! Wouldn't you rather be busy then just sitting at home doing nothing. Life is so much better when there is something to do. And your going to Hawaii. Fun!! We ended up buying a time share, so we'll be going back every year!
Aly,
It was good to hear from you. I so know how you feel overwhelmed with so much on your plate. When does school end for you, are you taking summer classes? I would love it if you convinced Jon to move down. I think you should add a trip to Oregon on your agenda for the summer. I'll be there for a month and you could have a personalized tour (jk). I loved the documentary about Jon's rugby team. I'm assuming that was Jon's coach from high school. What an amazing man and for him to be apart of Jon's life. When will you be down in May? I'll still be busy with finals around the 25th, but if you stop in St George maybe we can go out and eat somewhere.
yay for the update aly! keep treading, busy girl! your summer plans sound amazing and i'm glad you got to find out more about adoption. can't wait to see more of your gorgeous photography in here. :)
Dang girl, I feel lazy after hearing about all you got going on. Good for you!! Glad it's going well! Sounds like you got the travel bug too. Do it while you guys can, you won't regret it!
Aly you made me tired just reading all of the stuff you're up to! Wowza. Have fun in all your travels - I'm so jealous! We know some families who have been really blessed by adopting kids, so good for you for looking into it. You are going to be a great mom someday. Love ya!
You are such an amazing girl Aly. :) I sure hope everything in life turns out how you want it to, school, work, family everything. You definitely deserve it. :)
Hang in there with the craziness of it all! Talk to you soon.

Dana
